Palm Coast's paddling trails – start at Long Creek!

Long Creek Paddling Trail

Kayakers and canoeists exploring Palm Coast's Long Creek now have paddling markers to help everyone safely navigate the creek. In addition, two kiosks have been installed at the park to provide information about the preserve, wildlife in the area and safety tips.

Out on the water, 15 marker signs guide the way from Long Creek Nature Preserve to the Intracoastal Waterway and beyond – go all the way to Bing's Landing! Each of the marker signs is numbered for location-finding in case of emergency.

Long Creek is a unique estuary system – known as the ocean's nursery because of the bounty of marine life that starts there. Paddlers will see see Florida's natural beauty, majestic birds, oyster beds, leaping mullet and much more. Enjoy the serenity of the open salt marsh with the peace of mind of having markers to guide your journey!

The six-mile trip from Long Creek Nature Preserve to Bing's Landing closely follows the 19th-century shipping routes to the Hernandez Landing Site, the first point of commerce for the county. The Hernandez Landing Site is on the southeast side of the Long Creek Nature Preserve, and future phases of the nature preserve will highlight this archeological resource.

The new kiosks at the park are located at the kayak/canoe launch on Long Creek and at the kayak/canoe launch at College Waterway. Long Creek Nature Preserve is located at 1050 Palm Harbor Pkwy. – near the College Waterway bridge (near where Florida Park Drive intersects with Palm Harbor Parkway).

The project would not have been possible without the generous financial support of the Florida Inland Navigation District, with approximately a quarter million dollars for the markers and park improvements.
