City of Palm Coast celebrates Park and Recreation Month in July

Palm Coast - Game on! Lace up your shoes because Palm Coast Parks & Recreation invites you to celebrate Park and Recreation Month this July with a variety of fun activities and special events.

The theme of Park and Recreation Month is "Game On!" The theme highlights the activities planned all monthlong that are designed to motivate people to embrace their competitive spirit and spend quality time with their families while utilizing Palm Coast's parks and amenities.

Fun activities are planned throughout the month to provide everyone with the opportunity to experience parks and recreation opportunities. Most of the month's events are free, and they encourage people of all ages to be socially active and involved in the community.

The featured events include:

Fireworks in the Park- Kick off your Independence Day celebration one day early July 3. Pack your picnic basket and bring your blanket and chairs to watch the free colorful display at Central Park at Town Center, 975 Central Ave, beginning at 9 p.m. Entertainment and food vendors will begin at 6 p.m. A patriotic ceremony starts at 7 p.m.

FIFA World Cup Finals Watch Party- The FIFA World Cup is here again! Come join us at the Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy NE, as we watch the finals match to see which country is crowned the best in the world July 7. There will be snacks, giveaways and activities for kids. The event costs $1 per person.

Doubles Cornhole Tournament- Sign up with a partner today to compete in this widely popular sport, which has been featured on ESPN. The price for a two-person team is $20. Bags and boards are provided. The tournament takes place at the Palm Coast Tennis Center, 1290 Belle Terre Pkwy, July 13 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Registration is required.

Game On! Days at Palm Coast Tennis Center- Get your game on at the Tennis Center! Enjoy half-price court fees all month long any time after noon Tuesday and Thursday throughout the month of July. Kids are free all of July - any day of the week.

Learn 2 Play- Find your game on the tennis court with free lesson days: every Saturday in July from 9-10 a.m. for ages 7-10 and from 10-11 a.m. for ages 11 and up.

Movie and Pizza Party (Adaptive Recreation) - Enjoy a movie and pizza party July 19 from 6-9 p.m.! This free adaptive recreation program is intended for youth and adults with intellectual disabilities.  

Senior Ice Cream Social- Come chill out and decorate your ice cream with various toppings July 19 from 2-3 p.m. Sugar free and non-dairy options will be available.

Youth Fishing Derby- Come out to Waterfront Park, 150 Waterfront Park Road, for a day of family, fun, food and catch-and-release fishing July 20 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Youth will be eligible for various prizes based on different categories. Youth must be accompanied by an adult. Any adult actively assisting a youth must have a fishing license. Pre-registration for this free event is encouraged but not required.

Tour de Palm Coast- Ride along the scenic route of St. Joe Walkway on this free tour July 27. The tour will begin leaving promptly at 8 a.m. from the Palm Coast Community Center. Riders are encouraged to bring water, and all riders must wear a helmet.

Pool Pass Holder Appreciation Day- We would like to extend our appreciation to all Palm Coast Aquatics Center pass holders with an after-hours party for all members and their families! Refreshments will be provided. Come meet the staff and relax with us to close out the summer season July 28 from 5-7 p.m. at 339 Parkview Dr.
