Palm Coast - Palm Coast Parks & Recreation is starting a new scholarship program to reimburse eligible seniors, ages 62+, for meals served as part of various Parks & Rec programs.

The application period for the new meals scholarship program will begin Saturday, Dec. 1, and remain open through Jan. 15. Applications can be obtained from the Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE, and should be returned there after completed.

Some of the Winter/Spring 2018-19 programs that will qualify for the new scholarship program include:

·         Senior Special Events - the Valentine's Sweetheart Luncheon on Feb. 14 and the St. Patrick's Day Luncheon on March 8

·         A Matter of Balance - Managing Concerns About Falls, a new fall-prevention and exercise program to be held weekly from Jan. 8 to Feb. 26

·         Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program, a new joint-safe exercise program for people with arthritis that will meet twice a week from March 19 to May 9.

Scholarship recipients will need to register for the programs in advance and must pay at time of registration, but will be reimbursed for the meals later. The scholarships are not available to use for field trips, trips and tours, or for athletic leagues. This is a program funded by the Community Development Block Grant program.
