Palm Coast - Celebrate the holiday season with your family, friends and neighbors at the City of Palm Coast's Starlight Event & Parade on Saturday, Dec. 8, at Central Park in Town Center, 975 Central Ave., Palm Coast. Admission is free.

This year's Starlight Event & Parade is presented by Palm Coast Ford, and the Palm Coast Observer is also sponsoring the celebration.

The day kicks off with the pre-parade Starlight Event from 4 to 6:45 p.m. featuring live entertainment including music and games by DJ Vern and performances from Matanzas High School Thespian Club, Flagler Palm Coast High School Dance, FPC Formality Singers and the VertiFit Aerial Arts Show (acrobatic performance from the ground). Other entertainment includes Face Painting by For Every Event (there is a charge), Photo Booth, Christmas-themed balloon animals, and multiple vendors with food available for purchase.

There will be visits with Santa (bring your own camera for photos) and free children's activities to include Letters to Santa, a Christmas wish list, and crafts including Christmas beads and reindeer hats.

At 7 p.m., the Starlight Parade will get under way - featuring colorful lighted floats, talented marching bands, and prizes for the top entries. The parade route will begin near the round-about on Central Avenue (near entrance to the Landings Apartments) and head east; turning north onto Park Street, east onto Lake Avenue, and south on City Place; then continuing south of Bulldog Drive. The commentators for the Starlight Parade will be recently retired Palm Coast Fire Chief Michael C. Beadle and his wife, DeeDee Beadle.

This year's parade grand marshal will be Bill Butler, recently retired City of Palm Coast Landscape Architect, who is responsible for the landscaping that makes Palm Coast so beautiful and is also one of the Rotary Club of Flagler County's founders of the annual Fantasy Lights holiday display at Central Park.
