October 6, 2017 - Flagler County has created an avenue that will allow Hurricane Irma relief donations to remain local.

"Several residents have requested a way to donate money that will benefit our residents here in Flagler County," Administrator Craig Coffey said. "Our Human Services Department already provides rental and utility assistance. Since Hurricane Irma, we have expanded these services to include security deposit assistance and hotel nights in extreme cases."

All monetary donations made to Flagler County for Hurricane Irma relief will be distributed through a Human Services account to assist the needs or residents impacted by the storm.

"We are not soliciting for donations, but providing a way for residents who desire to make a relief contribution to do so. The funds collected will definitely be used to help someone here in Flagler County," said Finance Director Lorie Bailey-Brown. "We have the mechanisms in place, and it will give those residents who want to help others locally a way to do it."

Donations are tax deductible. A letter will be sent to each donor confirming the amount, and the required information to include with the annual tax return.

Checks should be made payable Flagler County BOCC, and mailed to Flagler County Human Services, 1000 Belle Terre Parkway, Palm Coast FL 32164.
