Palm Coast, Fla. - Take a walk or run while enjoying the great outdoors at the City of Palm Coast's 5K Root Run/Walk and 1 Mile Flutter Foam Fun Run/Walk - part of Arbor Day 2014 on Saturday, May 3. There will be an optional foam lane at the Finish Line!
It's time now to register for one or both of the races. The 5K Root Run/Walk will begin at 8 a.m., followed by the 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk at 9 a.m. The run/walks will be held in the vicinity of Central Park in Town Center, 975 Central Ave., Palm Coast. Awards will be given out at Central Park Main Stage after the race.
Register at www.palmcoastgov.com/ArborDay. Participants are guaranteed a race T-shirt and goody bag if they register by April 25. Entry fees and pre-registration deadlines are as follows:
5K Root Run
- $25 Online and in-person registration closes at 5 p.m. May 1 (details on in-person registration below)
- $25 Mail-in registration closes April 25 (details below)
- $30 Day before (May 2) and day of race (May 3) in person - cash or checks only
- Veterans with military ID receive free entry
Flutter Fun Run
- $10 - 1M Flutter Fun Run
Proceeds from the Fun Run will go to assist the Guardian Angels, an Indian Trails Middle School Service Learning Group, in raising awareness about teen depression.
In-person registration will go through May 1 at the Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Parkway, NE. Checks, money orders, cash and credit cards accepted. Checks and money orders must be payable to City of Palm Coast and reference which race. The Community Center is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
Mail-in registration is available through April 25. Mail registration form available online with check or money order (made out as described above) to: City of Palm Coast, c/o Arbor Day Race Pre-registration, Attn: Carol Mini, 160 Cypress Point Parkway Suite B106, Palm Coast, FL 32164.
Pre-Race Packet Pick Up will be held at the Community Center from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 2, or at 7 a.m. on race day.
First-, second- and third-place will be awarded for men and women in 15 age groups. The race will be chip-timed.
After the races, enjoy the free Arbor Day 2014 celebration from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Central Park. Bring canned food or pet food items and exchange them for a three-gallon native hardwood tree (while supplies last). Plus, enjoy exhibits focusing on the environment and fun activities including a butterfly release/tent, zoo exhibits, wildlife shows, games, K-9 demonstration, fire prevention activity, and a photo booth green screen that will link to the City of Palm Coast Facebook page.
Remember: Bulldog Drive is currently closed to through traffic for road improvements, so please access Central Park from Central Avenue off Belle Terre Parkway. After the Run/Walk, at approximately 10:30 a.m., Central Park can also be accessed from Central Avenue off Town Center Boulevard (off State Road 100).
