Utility System Operator Intern Trainee

Under direct supervision, the purpose of the position is to receive on-the-job-training (OJT) of complex operation and general maintenance duties at the City of Palm Coast water treatment plants and some distribution according to the area of assignment. Employees in this classification must be available to work on any assigned shift that may include working nights, holidays and weekends. Plant processes include membrane softening, filtration, lime softening and chlorine addition. This job includes the performance for the full range of the classification's tasks and duties, ultimately performing at an operator's level of classification. Employees in this classification learn how to monitor and analyze operating and processing conditions. Ultimately, employee will be authorized to modify process controls or equipment operation to ensure proper plant operation. Objective is to become knowledgeable in regulatory compliance rules and regulations, and to learn all applicable environmental Federal, State, and local regulatory standards.  High School Diploma or GED; supplemented by six (6) months labor experience and a demonstrated ability to perform the physical and mathematical duties of the position; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.  Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.

Trainee will have twenty-four (24) months from hire date to obtain and maintain Water Treatment, Level C Operator Certification issued by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection

The Construction Management & Engineering Division is seeking a Traffic Engineer to manage all aspects related to City Transportation Projects such as traffic studies, capital improvements, operations, safety, and traffic control facilities including the ITS signal system. Project Coordinator/Manager

City of Palm Coast is seeking an experienced Project Coordinator/Manager to assist with Capital Improvement Projects. Under administrative direction, the purpose of the position is to oversee and manage capital improvement construction and engineering activities. The work of an employee in this class focuses on the coordination of multiple capital improvement project types, including but not limited to transportation, utility infrastructure, stormwater infrastructure, recreation facilities, and various public use building types. Employees in this classification perform at entry/mid-management level, and are responsible for coordinating/managing the project development, design, construction, inspection and contract administration activities involving the review and evaluation of architectural & engineering plans and specifications in support of the implementation of the City's Capital Improvement Projects. The objective is to ensure development through departmental application of all applicable Federal, State and local codes and standards and contractual provisions.

Requirements for Project Coordinator 
Associate's Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related field; supplemented by three (3) years progressively responsible professional experience in the design, construction, inspection or project coordination/management of architecture, engineering, building, site development, stormwater, utility or roadway design and/or construction, or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.  

Requirements for Project Manager

Plans Examiner
Under direction, the purpose of the position is to review and analyze construction plans and specifications for permitted construction projects, to include structural, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, and engineering construction of residential, commercial and multi-family construction for compliance of appropriate building codes regulating building construction, alterations and repairs. Essential functions include reviewing various records, plans, specifications, and documentation relating to plans review for residential, commercial and multi-family construction for conformance with the Florida Building Code, and other national and local codes and ordinances.

Applicant must possess and maintain a Standard Certificate as a plans examiner with single and double endorsement in trade of choice to include building, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and one and two family dwelling, as approved by the Building Official, issued by the Florida Building Code Administration and Inspection Board as well as previous experience in the completion of plans examining.  Associate's Degree with major course work in engineering or architecture and five (5) yrs. exp. as a contractor or superintendent of construction; or an equivalent combination of training and experience required.  Prefers candidates with (7) yrs. exp.  Must possess or obtain, a valid Florida Driver's License.

Building Inspector
