Under direct supervision, the purpose of the position is to receive on-the-job-training (OJT) of complex operation and general maintenance duties at the City of Palm Coast water treatment plants and some distribution according to the area of assignment. Employees in this classification must be available to work on any assigned shift that may include working nights, holidays and weekends. Plant processes include membrane softening, filtration, lime softening and chlorine addition. This job includes the performance for the full range of the classification's tasks and duties, ultimately performing at an operator's level of classification. Employees in this classification learn how to monitor and analyze operating and processing conditions. Ultimately, employee will be authorized to modify process controls or equipment operation to ensure proper plant operation. Objective is to become knowledgeable in regulatory compliance rules and regulations, and to learn all applicable environmental Federal, State, and local regulatory standards. High School Diploma or GED; supplemented by six (6) months labor experience and a demonstrated ability to perform the physical and mathematical duties of the position; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.
Trainee will have twenty-four (24) months from hire date to obtain and maintain Water Treatment, Level C Operator Certification issued by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection

Under administrative direction, the purpose of the position is to oversee and manage capital improvement construction and engineering activities. The work of an employee in this class focuses on the coordination of multiple capital improvement project types, including but not limited to transportation, utility infrastructure, stormwater infrastructure, recreation facilities, and various public use building types. Employees in this classification perform at entry/mid-management level, and are responsible for coordinating/managing the project development, design, construction, inspection and contract administration activities involving the review and evaluation of architectural & engineering plans and specifications in support of the implementation of the City's Capital Improvement Projects. The objective is to ensure development through departmental application of all applicable Federal, State and local codes and standards and contractual provisions.

Applicant must possess and maintain a Standard Certificate as a plans examiner with single and double endorsement in trade of choice to include building, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and one and two family dwelling, as approved by the Building Official, issued by the Florida Building Code Administration and Inspection Board as well as previous experience in the completion of plans examining. Associate's Degree with major course work in engineering or architecture and five (5) yrs. exp. as a contractor or superintendent of construction; or an equivalent combination of training and experience required. Salary : $22.62 - $25.24 / per hour
This position involves technical work inspecting building construction at residential, commercial and multi-family construction sites for enforcement of appropriate building codes regulating building construction, alterations and repairs. Essential functions include: conducting field inspections of work in progress or completed projects under approved building permits for conformance with the Florida Building Code, and other national and local codes and ordinances, maintaining files of inspections and providing technical advice and consult with architects, engineers, general and specialty contractors and homeowners.
