Local Business Tax Inspector

Performs routine as well as complex technical work in Business Tax Receipt inspections to ensure that the Local Business Tax Receipt ordinances and other related codes and standards are met. Works under the general supervision of the Compliance Manager.   Position requires four years of experience as a Local Business Tax Receipt Inspector, Code Inspector, Law Enforcement Officer, Building Inspector, or related field. Deputy Fire Chief

Under direction of a Fire Chief, the purpose of this position is to function as the second in command to the Fire Chief, managing work that is public safety oriented in the protection of life and property.  Work is accomplished through the application of learned technical knowledge, skills, and abilities in the fields of fire science, hazardous materials management, building construction and emergency medicine.  Employees in this classification are responsible for administratively managing and coordinating all operational needs, staffing needs, and resource management for the City of Palm Coast Fire Department.  Performs related work as directed. Equipment Operator 11 - Must possess (3) years of light and heavy equipment operating experience including but not limited to operation of backhoe, front end loader, excavator, skid steer, gradall, etc. Must have the ability to perform labor intensive work within difficult environmental conditions to include frequent lifting, pulling and pushing of 50 lbs.  Must possess a Class "A" CDL license.

Utility Technician 1 or 2

Under supervision, the purpose of the position is to perform a wide range of routine labor intensive work in the installation, maintenance and repair of City water and sewer systems, and associated utility lift stations and facilities.

Utility System Technician 1 

Employees in this classification function at entry level, and are accountable for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the assigned lift stations and various facilities.  Routine tasks are performed with some independence, and work that is more difficult is performed under direct supervision. Objective is to maintain utility systems and facilitate safe and efficient transporting of water/wastewater throughout the City. Must have one (1) year experience in public utilities or other large scale commercial plumbing systems, and the ability to operate heavy equipment and tools of the trade; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.  General construction experience may be considered. 

Utility System Technician 2 

Employees in this classification function at journey level, and are accountable for operating, maintaining and performing minor repairs on utility vehicles and equipment.  Position is distinguished from that of the Utility Systems Technician I, by the level of independence the employee functions in, as a result of the advanced laboring knowledge acquired through training and work experience.  Objective is to maintain utility systems and facilitate safe and efficient transporting of water/wastewater throughout the City. 2) Years' experience in public utilities or other large scale commercial plumbing systems, basic electrical knowledge and the ability to operate heavy equipment and tools of the trade; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. 

Where applicable, must possess and maintain a valid Florida Class "B" Commercial Driver's License. FDEP Level III License in water distribution OR FWPCOA Class C certification in Wastewater collection.

All positions require a high school diploma/GED and the ability to meet the City of Palm Coast driver's license certification requirements.  Prefers candidates with Wastewater experience.

Under direction, the purpose of the position is to review and analyze construction plans and specifications for permitted construction projects, to include structural, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, and engineering construction of residential, commercial and multi-family construction for compliance of appropriate building codes regulating building construction, alterations and repairs. Essential functions include reviewing various records, plans, specifications, and documentation relating to plans review for residential, commercial and multi-family construction for conformance with the Florida Building Code, and other national and local codes and ordinances.

Applicant must possess and maintain a Standard Certificate as a plans examiner with single and double endorsement in trade of choice to include building, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and one and two family dwelling, as approved by the Building Official, issued by the Florida Building Code Administration and Inspection Board as well as previous experience in the completion of plans examining.  Associate's Degree with major course work in engineering or architecture and five (5) yrs. exp. as a contractor or superintendent of construction; or an equivalent combination of training and experience required.  Prefers candidates with (7) yrs. exp.  Must possess or obtain, a valid Florida Driver's License.

Building Inspector

This position involves technical work inspecting building construction at residential, commercial and multi-family construction sites for enforcement of appropriate building codes regulating building construction, alterations and repairs.  Essential functions include: conducting field inspections of work in progress or completed projects under approved building permits for conformance with the Florida Building Code, and other national and local codes and ordinances, maintaining files of inspections and providing technical advice and consult with architects, engineers, general and specialty contractors and homeowners.
