Utility Systems Technician I
City of Palm Coast currently has opportunies available in our Utility, Wastewater Department. Under supervision, the purpose of the positions is to perform a wide range of routine labor-intensive work in the installation, maintenance and repair of City water and sewer systems, and minor repairs and installations of utility lines and equipment.

Utility Technician 1
PG 6 $14.2223 - $15.8491

Employees in this classification function at entry level, and are accountable for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the assigned lift stations and various facilities.  Routine tasks are performed with some independence, and work that is more difficult is performed under direct supervision. Objective is to maintain utility systems and facilitate safe and efficient transporting of water/wastewater throughout the City.  HS Diploma or GED; supplemented by one (1) year experience in public utilities or other large scale commercial plumbing systems, and the ability to operate heavy equipment and tools of the trade; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.  General construction experience may be considered.  Prefers candidates that have experience in Wastewater. Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida driver's license.

Utility System Technician II
PG 8 $15.81 - $17.5717

Employees in this classification function at journey level, and are accountable for operating, maintaining and performing minor repairs and the installations to the utility system and equipment.  Position is distinguished from that of the Utility Systems Technician I, by the level of independence the employee functions in, as a result of the advanced laboring knowledge acquired through training and work experience.  Objective is to maintain utility systems and facilitate safe and efficient transporting of water/wastewater throughout the City.  HS Diploma or GED; supplemented by two (2) years of experience in public utilities or other large scale commercial plumbing systems, basic electrical knowledge and the ability to operate heavy equipment and tools of the trade; or an equivalent combination of education.  Where applicable, must possess and maintain a valid Florida Class "B" Commercial Driver's License and a FDEP Level III License in water distribution OR FWPCOA Class B certification in Wastewater collection.

Landscape Architect
Under general direction, the purpose of this position is to understand and administer land use regulations, codes and ordinances relating to landscape/irrigation and tree preservation for the planning and development of the City.  Work involves review of site plans, tree surveys, and landscape/irrigation plans to determine their compliance with City and other applicable regulations. Landscape and irrigation design and implementation of City capital improvement projects. Duties include landscape and irrigation design, field reviews, inspections, code compliance and overseeing the installation of trees and plants. Position works closely with outside design professionals, landscape contractors and other City staff members.  A Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture or related field is required, Registered Landscape Architect preferred.  Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License

Lifeguard
Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to ensure the safety of patrons at the City's public swimming facility. Employees in this classification perform at entry staff level and are responsible for monitoring various swimming activities as well as assisting with special functions. Employee assists in maintaining pool and surrounding facility area. Objective is to ensure safety and general welfare of the general public engaging in all swimming activities through guarding and instructing patrons. Current enrollment in High School or GED program required, High School Diploma or GED from accredited school PREFERRED; supplemented by a demonstrated ability to perform the physical requirements of the position; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess and maintain current American Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard Certification, CPR and First Aid Certification, AED for the professional and must demonstrate the ability to swim 200 yards freestyle in under three (3) minutes; Water Safety Instructor Certification (WSI) Preferred.

Building Inspector
This position involves technical work inspecting building construction at residential, commercial and multi-family construction sites for enforcement of appropriate building codes regulating building construction, alterations and repairs.  Essential functions include: conducting field inspections of work in progress or completed projects under approved building permits for conformance with the Florida Building Code, and other national and local codes and ordinances, maintaining files of inspections and providing technical advice and consult with architects, engineers, general and specialty contractors and homeowners.

Applicant must also hold a Standard Certificate as an Inspector in one or more disciplines to include building, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and one and two family dwelling, issued by the Florida Building Code Administration and Inspection Board.  Must possess or obtain a valid Florida Driver's License and demonstrated five (5) years' experience as an inspector, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Firefighter - Paramedic
The City of Palm Coast is building an eligibility list for Firefighter/Paramedic. 

The employee performs highly responsible work involving the prevention and suppression of fires, emergency medical services work.  The employee is responsible for responding to emergency situations and assisting in the control and resolution of the situation.  The employee works within the scope of established Fire Department rules, regulations and procedures, however, is expected to exercise considerable judgment and initiative in emergency situations.  Objective is to prevent and minimize injury and/or the loss of life and property in emergency and fire situations.   This full-time position requires a HS Diploma or GED.   Must possess Florida State Firefighters Minimum Standards certificate, Florida certification as Paramedic EMT-P preferred, (CPR) certificate,  Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certificate preferred, Pre Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) certificate preferred, Pediatric Emergencies for Pre Hospital Providers (PEP) certificate and a valid State of Florida Driver's License.
