The City of Palm Coast is currently seeking a Signal/Traffic Technician 1 or 2 to join our Public Works Department. Under general supervision, the purpose of the job is to perform manual work in the fabrication, assembly, installation and repair of road, highway, traffic and information signs. Employees in this classification operate stenciling machinery, computers and associated equipment in the preparation of signage as well as perform traffic signal maintenance, troubleshoot malfunctions and implement timing and coordination plans per engineering specifications. Position operates various light equipment in the transportation and placement of signage. Must be able to be on a 24-7 on call rotation. Must possess a HS Diploma or GED; supplemented by three (3) years' experience in public sign installation and repair, and the ability to perform labor intensive work within difficult environmental conditions to include frequent lifting, pulling and pushing of 50 lbs.; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Class "B" Commercial Driver's License. Position requires employee to be on call for a week at a time to respond to after hour calls regarding traffic signals/street signs.
