What could be better than watching a movie on the big-screen while floating around in the pool?! Dive-In Movies are back for summer 2017 at the City of Palm Coast's Frieda Zamba Swimming Pool!

Moana (rated PG) will be the featured movie on Friday, June 23, and Sing (rated PG) is scheduled for Friday, July 21. Entrance will open at 8 p.m., and the movie will begin about 8:30 p.m. Admission is $1. More info: www.palmcoastgov.com/movies.

There are many other fun activities coming up at the pool:

  • Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 13-22 - Aqua Zumba - Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 13 to 22, 9-10 a.m. Fee is $8. (Second session available July 11-Aug. 3.)

  • Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 13-Aug. 24 - Swim Fitness Challenge - 4-7:15 p.m. Improve your overall fitness! Regular pool admission applies.

  • Monday, June 12 - American Red Cross Whale Tales Water Safety Class - 11:15 a.m.-noon. This once-a-month program is taught to raise awareness of safe behavior in, on and around the water. The program is for young children ages 3-5, and is free.

  • Saturday and Sunday, June 17-18 - Junior Lifeguard Camp - 8 a.m.-noon. Swimmers ages 11-15 will receive step-by-step lifeguarding skill development. Learn water safety, lifeguard rescues and first aid and CPR/AED.$60. Must pre-register: www.palmcoastgov.com/register.

  • Saturday, June 17 - Social Media Day at Frieda Zamba Swimming Pool - Noon-6 p.m. For $1 admission to the pool, "like" or follow the City of Palm Coast on Facebook and/or Twitter, so you can stay up-to-date on events and activities. $1 admission.

  • Monday through Thursday, June 19-29 - Swim Lessons at Frieda Zamba Pool - The City will offer a variety of swim lesson options for children, teens and adults.   • Thursday, June 22 - World's Largest Swim Lesson - 10 a.m., with registration at 9:30 a.m. Join thousands of swimmers across the world for a swimming lesson aimed at preventing childhood drowning. Free admission.

  • Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 30-July 2 - American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Class - Friday 8 a.m.-4 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m.-6 p.m. The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies.   • Tuesday, July 4 - Fun on the Fourth - Noon-6 p.m. Wear red, white and blue for $1 admission.

  • Saturday, July 8 - Kids/Teen Splash and Dash - 8 a.m. Kids and teens are invited to participate in this non-competitive swim and run event. All participants will be timed and will receive prizes for finishing the race. $10. Register in advance or on day of event: www.palmcoastgov.com/register.

  • Sunday, July 30 - Member Appreciation Day - 8-10 p.m. Frieda Zamba Pool members are invited to an after-hours party for members and their families. Refreshments will be provided. Free.

  • Monday, Aug. 14 - American Red Cross Whale Tales Water Safety Class - 11:15 a.m.-noon. This program is taught to raise awareness of safe behavior in, on and around the water. The program is for young children ages 3-5, and is free.

The pool is now open seven days a week. It is located at 339 Parkview Drive, adjacent to Belle Terre Park and the Buddy Taylor/Wadsworth School campus. Summer hours are 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and noon-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

There are four pavilions on the pool deck available for reservation, and the entire facility can be rented for after-hours events.

Daily admission is $4 adults; $3 for seniors (65 and older) and youth (ages 2-17); and free for children under 2. Seasonal and three-month memberships are available for families, couples and individuals.

The City pool is named for local surfing legend Frieda Zamba, a four-time world surfing champion from Flagler Beach. Zamba won three straight titles from 1984-1986, then again in 1988, and is regarded by many as the greatest woman surfer of all time.
