Oil and Auto

<< Making A Difference

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that 200 million gallons of oil are improperly disposed of each year. That's enough oil to fill the average swimming pool 12,000 times! A single quart of oil is capable of contaminating one million gallons of clean water. This waste can produce severe environmental, economic, and social impacts.

There are simple precautionary measures that you can take to help reduce oil and auto fluid pollution. One is to check for oil leaks on a regular basis and promptly fix any you might discover. Next, be sure to take old motor oil and other car fluids to auto supply stores that will recycle them properly. The County's recycling and hazardous waste disposal center is located at 1700 S. Old Kings Road (1.5 miles south of SR 100).
