Firefighter - Paramedic
Under direction, performs highly responsible work involving the prevention and suppression of fires, emergency medical services work.  The employee is responsible for responding to emergency situations and assisting in the control and resolution of the situation.  The employee works within the scope of established Fire Department rules, regulations and procedures, however, is expected to exercise considerable judgment and initiative in emergency situations.  Objective is to prevent and minimize injury and/or the loss of life and property in emergency and fire situations.   This full-time position requires a HS Diploma or GED.   Must possess Florida State Firefighters Minimum Standards certificate, Florida certification as Paramedic EMT-P preferred, (CPR) certificate,  Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certificate preferred, Pre Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) certificate preferred, Pediatric Emergencies for Pre Hospital Providers (PEP) certificate and a valid State of Florida Driver's License.

Under supervision, performs semi-skilled to skilled vehicle and equipment operation in the installation, maintenance and repair tasks associated with City infrastructure development and public properties management. Employee functions in a lead capacity and area of assignment may include streets and transportation, parks and recreation, utilities systems installation and maintenance, and public works operations. Employee is distinguished from that of the entry level position by knowledge and proficiency gained through training and experience. THIS IS A SEASONAL PART-TIME POSITION. MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK MORNINGS, AFTERNOONS, EVENINGS, & WEEKENDS. High school diploma or GED; supplemented by (1) year experience in child care, day camp, youth recreation or camp program, within a similar recreational or educational environment. Must possess and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, & AED certifications.

Building Inspector
This position involves technical work inspecting building construction at residential, commercial and multi-family construction sites for enforcement of appropriate building codes regulating building construction, alterations and repairs.  Essential functions include: conducting field inspections of work in progress or completed projects under approved building permits for conformance with the Florida Building Code, and other national and local codes and ordinances, maintaining files of inspections and providing technical advice and consult with architects, engineers, general and specialty contractors and homeowners.

Growth in permitting has created a need for additional plans examiners. Under direction, the purpose of the position is to review and analyze construction plans and specifications for permitted construction projects, to include structural, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, and engineering construction of residential, commercial and multi-family construction for compliance of appropriate building codes regulating building construction, alterations and repairs. Essential functions include:  reviewing various records, plans, specifications, and documentation relating to plans review for residential, commercial and multi-family construction for conformance with the Florida Building Code, and other national and local codes and ordinances.

Applicant must possess and maintain a Standard Certificate as a plans examiner with single and double endorsement in trade of choice to include building, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and one and two family dwelling, as approved by the Building Official, issued by the Florida Building Code Administration and Inspection Board as well as previous experience in the completion of plans examining.  Associate's Degree with major course work in engineering or architecture and seven (7) years' experience as a contractor or superintendent of construction; or an equivalent combination of training and experience required.  Must possess or obtain, a valid Florida Driver's License.

The City of Palm Coast is currently seeking a Building Inspector/Senior Building Inspector to inspect one or more areas of construction to include structural, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, and engineering in buildings and developments.  The employee will be responsible for reviewing development operations to verify conformity with approved plans and specifications in their respective trades and to evaluate compliance with all local, State and Federal laws, ordinances and regulations to ensure the safety and welfare of the general public.
