Environmental Specialist 1
The purpose of the position is to perform a broad variety of technical assignments, including inspections, taking field measurements, collecting various types of samples, completing reports and recordkeeping in support of the City's environmental, water, wastewater and storm water activities.  Employees in this classification perform at entry professional level and are responsible for maintaining compliance with Federal and State laws including local codes and standards. The employee is expected to exercise considerable judgment and initiative in the performance of job duties.  Associates of Science Degree with major coursework in any of the Environmental Sciences , Engineering or a related field, or equivalent vocational certification with major coursework in the physical sciences, environmental or engineering technology; supplemented by two (2) years of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.   
 
The position is very technical in nature and we prefer candidates with knowledge in inspections, measurements, sampling, reporting and compliance of a variety of environmental initiatives.    
 
 Must possess and maintain a Florida Driver's License.

Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to perform general maintenance, grounds keeping and custodial work in the assigned functional area.  Employees in this classification function at journey level, and are responsible for accomplishing a daily routine of general and preventative maintenance tasks to provide employees and general public with an environmentally safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient public area.  Employee is distinguished from that of the entry level position by knowledge and proficiency gained through experience.  Performs related work as directed.  High School Diploma or GED preferred; supplemented by demonstrated ability to fulfill the physical requirements of the work and two (2) years grounds keeping and/or general maintenance experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Prefers candidates that have experience in storm water drainage maintenance.

Seasonal Instructor
City of Palm Coast is currently seeking an Instructor to join our Parks & Recreation team.   Under direction, the purpose of the position is to organize, supervise and lead leisure learning programs and activities. Employees in this classification perform at entry staff level.  We recruit instructors to teach a wide variety of classes that provide local residents with positive recreational experiences.  Work includes developing and delivering age appropriate curricula and ensuring the overall safe and efficient delivery of assigned programs provided by the City. Employee works with independence and initiative within established parameters, policies and procedures.  Performs other duties as dictated by the nature of the program.

Minimum certification in area of expertise; supplemented by a minimum of two years previous instructional experience within a similar recreational or educational environment; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.  Additional training and/or certification may be required depending upon the type of program or class and essential skills required.  Must possess or acquire prior to program and/or activity begin date certification in CPR/First Aid and AED.  This is a part-time position.

Firefighter - Paramedic
The City of Palm Coast is building an eligibility list for Firefighter/Paramedic. 

The employee performs highly responsible work involving the prevention and suppression of fires, emergency medical services work.  The employee is responsible for responding to emergency situations and assisting in the control and resolution of the situation.  The employee works within the scope of established Fire Department rules, regulations and procedures, however, is expected to exercise considerable judgment and initiative in emergency situations.  Objective is to prevent and minimize injury and/or the loss of life and property in emergency and fire situations.   This full-time position requires a HS Diploma or GED.   Must possess Florida State Firefighters Minimum Standards certificate, Florida certification as Paramedic EMT-P preferred, (CPR) certificate,  Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certificate preferred, Pre Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) certificate preferred, Pediatric Emergencies for Pre Hospital Providers (PEP) certificate and a valid State of Florida Driver's License.

Employees in this classification perform at entry staff level and are responsible for monitoring various swimming activities as well as assisting with special functions. Employee assists in maintaining pool and surrounding facility area. Objective is to ensure safety and general welfare of the general public engaging in all swimming activities through guarding and instructing patrons. Current enrollment in High School or GED program required, High School Diploma or GED from accredited school PREFERRED; supplemented by a demonstrated ability to perform the physical requirements of the position; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess and maintain current American Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard Certification, CPR and First Aid Certification, AED for the professional and must demonstrate the ability to swim 200 yards freestyle in under three (3) minutes; Water Safety Instructor Certification (WSI) Preferred.
