Waterfront Park

Waterfront Park

There're more than one set of wheels that will get you to the Grand Opening of the City of Palm Coast's beautiful new Waterfront Park. Of course, you can drive. However, bike enthusiasts will be gathering at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, September 25th at the Palm Coast Community Center to enjoy a relaxed educational tour of Linear Park/St. Joe Walkway on their way to the Park's Grand Opening. Riders will learn about the variety of foliage and wildlife that adorn the pathways and stop to view the new Children's Memorial Garden that was constructed adjacent to Waterfront Park. The Garden is a tranquil spot dedicated to those whose children have passed on. The tour will culminate at the Waterfront Park Grand Opening Experience where a gala grand opening will take place at 9:00 a.m., complete with an official ceremony and a wide range of eco-activities for the entire family. A fishing pier, playground and picnic pavilions beckon guests to linger and enjoy this beautiful new park.

The bike tour begins at the Palm Coast Community Center, located at 305 Palm Coast Parkway NE. For those who wish to drive, Waterfront Park is located east of Colbert Lane and south of Palm Coast Parkway, along the Intracoastal Waterway. Watch for signs to guide your way. For more information, please contact Carol Bennett, Urban Forester for the City of Palm Coast at 386-986-3722.

Fishing...biking/hiking...picnicking...adding waterfront activities to leisure time is about to become a recognized component for Palm Coast residents. The City of Palm Coast will showcase our beautiful new Waterfront Park to the public on Saturday, September 25th. This utterly stunning recreation area is nestled in the existing canopied trees along the Intracoastal Waterway. The facility will serve as a natural trailhead to our popular St. Joe Walkway/Linear Park pathways, as well as to the newly completed trail through Graham Swamp.

The public is invited to spend the morning of September 25th enjoying a unique grand opening Waterfront Park Experience. Beginning at 9:00 a.m., guests will inaugurate the park with a ceremonial ribbon cutting, followed by rotating visits to various educational booths, including Manatee Exploration, Pollution Revolution, Geocache Hunting and Wild Waterfront Park Stations. A fishing pier will beckon anglers, both young and old and families can enjoy the new playground and picnic pavilions.

For the more ambitious outdoor enthusiasts, the City has organized an 8:00 a.m. bike tour early Saturday morning that will culminate at the Grand Opening. The tour begins at the Palm Coast Community Center and winds its way through Linear Park/St. Joe Walkway, passing the Children's Memorial Garden. Visitors to the Grand Opening can also stroll through this new Children's Memorial Garden, located adjacent to Waterfront Park along the Intracoastal Waterway. Completed this summer, the Garden is designed to be a peaceful sanctuary for people to reflect and recall memories of children who have passed away.

Join your neighbors and celebrate the opening of a beautiful new jewel in Palm Coast's treasure box. Waterfront Park is located east of Colbert Road, about one mile south of Palm Coast Parkway. For more information regarding the bike tour, please call Carol Bennett at 386-986-3722.
